MOBA Trainer

The Gwoop MOBA Trainer is a single player MOBA training game designed to help players learn and practice the basic skills required to play competitive MOBAs. The game includes a tutorial and 3 seperate scenarios to play. As the primary developer for the game, I was responsible for developing all of the game's systems and polishing the final product.

Last Hits Scenario
  • Scenario simulates single lane MOBA combat including towers, minions, an enemy hero and a base.

  • The purpose of the scenario is to practicing landing the last hit on enemy minions to maximize resource collection and upgrades.

Kiting Scenario

  • This scenario has the player moving through a gauntlet of enemy mobs. 

  • The goal is defeat the enemy bosses and take as little damage possible. 

  • The scenario also simulates basic "jungle" combat from MOBA games.

Skill Shot Scenario
  • This scenario has the player practicing dodging and aiming their abilities. 

  • Confined to a limited space, the player must survive as along as possible with bonus points awarded for hitting patrolling enemies with their abilities.

MOBA Tutorial

  • The tutorial provides step-by-step instruction, teaching the player the basics of MOBA gameplay. 

  • The tutorial allows the user to learn with mouse and keyboard controls or a controller.

Class System 
  • Classes have unique stats, combat capabilities and special abilities. 

  • Ranged and Melee characters along with buildings. 

  • Classes have unique behaviour to match their class and abilities.

  • Scalable system for fast design of new characters of any class.

Ability System 
  • 4 classes of abilities with unique aiming and firing mechanics. 

  • System designed to quickly create new abilities in any of the 4 classes. 

  • Abilities can apply up to 6 different effects on enemy and friendly units instantly or over time.

Controls 
  • Heavily customizable controls allow the user to rebind any key or button and choose the settings that meet their play style. 

  • Gamepad support along with the standard mouse and keyboard control scheme. 

  • A variety of control and input options allow users to train for their preferred MOBA game. 

Behaviour

  • Unique behaviour for each combat class, including ranged and melee minions and heroes as well as tower and bases. 

  • Behaviour simulates basic MOBA scenarios with units patrolling and targeting enemies to attack.
